Drive-in theatres have been around even before World War II. At its peak in 1940’s, hundreds of drive-in theatres opened for business. However, this industry started to decline in 1970’s due to the introduction of color television, video rentals, and cable TV’s. Also, most spaces were developed into residential houses, shopping centers, and industrial parks. In the year 2000 and onward, these drive-ins were revived and presented in digital format.
One of the most popular today is the 5 Drive-in theatre at Oakville.
What is 5 Drive-in and why do people love going here?
The 5 Drive-in is an outdoor, drive-in theatre that opened in 1960’s. Owned and operated by Premiere Theatres, along with several other drive-in theaters in Canada, the 5 Drive-in serves as a symbol of survival today.
